Class Times

Optional Pre-Course Day Friday, April 19, 2024 starts at 0800 (ZOOM ONLY)

Full Course starts Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 0800 (IN PERSON ONLY)

Class starts at 0800 daily.

Attendance and Pre-Requisites

      • All daily sign in and sign outs will be done via QR scans using your phone or tablet or via a web link provide to you in chat.
        Since this will be the only way we record your attendance, please be ready on Day 1.  You can test your device here.
        UMBC staff WILL NOT be providing ANY device or app. support.
      • 100% Class attendance is required in order to be eligible to sit for the final exam.
      • Please remember to bring ALL license and certification information with you. Copies of all licenses and certifications MUST be submitted prior to the end of Day 1. Those missing one certification will be allowed to test, however will only find out if they passed/failed. Anyone missing 2 or more certifications will be ineligible to test.

    The Pediatric & Neonatal Critical Care Transport pre-requisites are:

  • RN, RRT or EMT-P with 1 year experience
  • PALS, PEPP, ENPC or PPC
  • CPR-Health Care Provider

We HIGHLY recommend the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as a pre-requisite, however it is not required.

The readings have been correlated to these books; however, any equivalent textbooks may be used. Click here for additional supplemental textbooks.

In order to be thoroughly prepared for the course, it is recommended you begin reading prior to the course start date. There will be a final examination on the last day of class.

Pediatric & Neonatal Critical Care Transport covers the most common and serious conditions requiring transport from a community hospital to a tertiary care facility.

Neonatal lectures are broken into the following:

  • Neonatal Assessment
  • Neonatal GI
  • Neonatal Respiratory
  • Neonatal Neurological

Continuing Education Hours

This continuing education activity is approved by UMBC, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

Program Length: 56 Hours

If you are a Virginia licensed EMS provider, please send a copy of your driver’s license PRIOR to 2 PM Monday, Monday, April 15, 2024 to ehspace@umbc.edu

As part of the email, please also include your Virginia EMS provider number ONLY.

Please do not provide any additional license numbers for other states or Registry.
